ABSTRACT

In my town sukolilo , there is a tradition named “MERON”. It is name of sesajen (javanese) that contained several food like nasi tumpeng , krecek ,ketan ireng ,etc. Then it all set up like a mountain after that people took it around the village then people scramble the meron after the meron surrounding the village. This tradition just held once a year on 12 maulud, no one knows since when it started, this tradition has been there even before I was born. But the meron nowadays and in the past has changed.

PROBLEM

Meron is a tradition passed down through generations, but the younger generation now do not want to preserve that tradition, whereas in the past people really apreciated that tradition, Because they know the meaning and the purpose of meron. Now the young generation just know that meron is such a carnafal. As a young generation it is embarrassing. I hope the young generation will learn how importance of meron. Based on this problem I will make a reseach paper about this phenomena, I will make an interview to some people from different generation, although it is true or just cheap explanation.

METHODS

There were 3 interviewee , they were an old woman, a teenager and a kid. I will ask them about what they know about meron.

The old woman was origin from sukolilo, she has saw meron several times since she were a girl until she became a grand mother. After I asked her ; she said that meron held to give thanks to ALLAH SWT, for the harvest mostly people believed that each part of meron has magical power. That why the people scrumble the meron.

The teenager was a boy that origin from sukolilo too, he is 20 years old, he said that meron is tradition that held once a year and there so many beautiful girl. That is why he always saw meron every year beside that he came there because want to saw the meron too because it happened just once a year

The last is akid that still in fifth grades he said meron is place where he can buy toys because there so many toys that sell and also vehicle games.

Each participant has different opinion about meron, the youner generations did not know about what the meron is? As a young generation it is embarrassing.

CONCLUSION and SUGGESTION

From that interview I concluded that meron has changed , it is not changed in the form but it is changed in its values , I hope in the future the young generation want repaire their mistakes and they will remember and kept this tradition until they die and pass down this tradition to their kid.
